Family Beach Get Away- Galveston 2014

We had a wonderful weekend get away just the 4 (almost 5) of us! The boys LOVE the beach! It was pretty cold so we only got one good "sand castle building day" in but other than that it was the perfect long weekend away from the normal routine.

Can't wait to schedule another one….

Our vacation began with a little lunch at Fishermans Wharf! The boys loved seeing the "real pirate ship" behind us!

After we got checked in…..they were so excited to walk to the beach!

…and I was excited to finish my book!

After a nice afternoon at the beach, we took the boys to the Aquarium to have dinner! They were fascinated (who wouldn't be..do you SEE the size of that fish?)

Making fish faces :)

Walking around Kemah…..enjoying the beautiful evening!

Friday (above) was a beautiful day!  Amazing what a difference a day can make…Saturday at the beach was not quite the same…It. Was. Cold!!!!!!!

So we didn't stay out very long. But what is the perfect thing to do on a windy day? …...
 FLY KITES!!!!!!!

And to top it all off, we spent the rest of the cold, windy day at the Train Museum.

We couldn't call ourselves official tourists without a dinner at the Rainforest Cafe…..complete with the Volcano Dessert!

….and here is how big my belly looked after eating that dessert! (otherwise known as 21 weeks)

Rodeo 2014

This is one of my favorite things to take the boys to. Maybe it is because I am not a Texas native and I feel like we are playing dress up…

Maybe it is because secretly (now not so secret) my favorite event is the petting zoo and I can go in because I am "taking the boys"….

Maybe it is the funnel cake…..

Probably it is because the boys just love it so very much! Yesterday, several times, they exclaimed "mom…we are real live cowboys". Be. still. my. heart.

So happy to be "big" in the back of the truck.

Camden LOVES animals. It is so cute because he always gets down and talks to them….

 ….a little lunch break.

 Way to go, Dad!
Learning how to be "real farmers".

So happy to be riding a "motorcycle"!

Cheese!
Snack Time!

….and this was their favorite part! A few years ago we tried it and they were sooo scared. They were so proud that this year they were brave enough to ride "real ponies".

…Camden pet the pony almost the whole time. He was on cloud nine!

…and finally the petting zoo to end the night.

I asked them to stand by the llama (I think, right?) to take a picture. It was soooo funny because they were too nervous to look away and look at me to get a good picture. (maybe it was his teeth?)

..until next year!
